Astounded is the word I’d use here. There’s so much to say, I’ll try not to ramble.
I recently became aware of this particular project by Ashley [youtube: Horizon], featuring her addition/vocalization of Lyrics to my instrumental piece Downtime. (thanks for the tip, hesperidia and spectrumfizz!) Until now I haven’t had much time to address it, largely due to work taking up most of my time, but I hope to bring her work into the spotlight. Ashley’s various projects are excellent, and while I have only recently discovered her compositions, I must say that it’s very hard not to peruse each of her well-orchestrated videos. Indeed, with the evocative qualities of Ashley’s vocal ability I was easily drawn to each song, one after another. I highly recommend visiting her channel, as well as her tumblr account. (hint, go there now and follow)
Downtime - my instrumental composition written to combine Showtime and Showdown from MSPA’s Homestuck - must have been a difficult piece to work with in forming lyrics: not only are the pace and mood of the song tantalizing factors to consider, but the piece’s loud percussion and sudden drops make for an agonizing experience when mixing vocal tracks. Nevertheless, the resultant of Ashley’s work is astonishingly good. I never saw the chosen direction of the vocals coming; I’m glad I didn’t, it’s certainly worth the surprise. Hit that play button and enjoy.
The reason why I write my songs (or really attempt to produce anything) is to inspire creativity. I’m thrilled to see that Ashley took Downtime and built on it to produce something new; truly the greatest gift any artist can receive is the birth of new art inspired by the original. For that, I thank you.

As the second contest album has finally been released, I can finally quit being so quiet on each of my public profiles. My track, Pilot Light: The Witch’s Cauldron, made it into the second album of coloUrs and mayhem: Universe B. I created the track to represent the ignition of the Forge, located on Jade’s world (Land of Frost and Frogs), and of the Forge’s warmth revealing a lush landscape beneath. All in all it was a fun project, and I am honored to not only be among all the talented artists who submitted, but to be included in the final result as well.
I originally submitted two songs, Pilot Light: The Witch’s Cauldron and Rectify. While my intention was to enter a total of three songs, my time certainly proved to be limited; I was nonetheless determined to mix at least two brand new compositions for submission. Rectify, my second submission, focused on inspiration from [s] Cascade. It featured Jack Noir’s leitmotif derived from Black (my favorite song ever to work with) with a focus on shifting the mood to a more determined “bad-guy-gone-good” sort of reformation, while still hinting at Jack’s more vengeful side.
A little about me, I’m a web engineer by profession and I write music and videos in my spare time, most of which can be found on my Soundcloud and Youtube profiles. I’ve written a tribute animation for Homestuck and am actively working on a second, both of which can be found by clicking either of the links below. I like to inspire people to create, and I’ve devoted my life to doing so. Such is the reason behind my alias AutoDevote: I am devoted to that which makes me who I am - the people and world around me.

Really looking forward to GNOME 3.4, my experience so far has been excellent on my laptop and the Gnome Team has really impressed me with their forward-thinking focus. Keep up the excellent work, GNOME Team.
In an update to my long-overdue “sequel” project meant to supersede my original animation, I’ve uploaded my current progress and changes. You’ll most likely note that the video’s progress hasn’t changed since my first hastily exported demo from a few months ago; I became very busy with school and work, and my rampant procrastination did not help at all either. I’ve finally resumed active work on the project as of yesterday, and you’ll note that I’ve gone back and performed quite a few touch-ups from the original exhibition. Another added bonus is that the video itself is now of significantly higher quality, especially when viewed at its HD resolutions. More news soon.

It’s going to take a while to complete, but I am actively working on the second Homestuck animation/tribute. As I said earlier, I grew very busy when I was originally working on this project, and then shortly thereafter my terrible procrastination did not help. Still, I’m currently cleaning up and working on the smaller details of the various shots I have so far; I’d like to share this frame as an indication that progress is being made. The original, hastily exported rendition of the project (when it was last exported many months ago) can be found here.
